Back blade with angle hydraulics

Bison sells a "kit" for each function up to three on the rear blade, the kits are $250 each. I can beat that pretty easy sourcing cylinders/hoses and fittings locally. Some of the stuff I already have laying around though.

I just got the bison blade all put together and plowed out the driveway, this sucker sure plows! I don't think the tractor can hurt it either.
I put it all together by myself with no overhead lift, but two people would be better!


I got the XHD model, no hydraulics as yet so I need to get off and move the pin - but I've been doing that for years and years with the old blade.

pretty sure this takes all 3" bore x 8" stroke cylinders, 3 of them total.

I bought a Land Pride RB3784 rear blade with the hydraulic angle kit ($275) this fall and i really like it for plowing snow. I haven't plowed any dirt with it yet but I'm sure it will be good. It is a 7' and if you want to reverse the blade u have to pop the cylinder off and lift it over to the other side, (not a big deal) I haven't had the need to do it yet. It is a nice heavy blade (630#)

I have a Frontier 72in one with hydraulic angle.

I wish ET would make a rear blade with hydraulic angle, too. They say someday, but I don't see it happening for some time.

I will be buying something in the spring, but since I won't be using it very much after the first season I haven't pulled the trigger on a Landpride or something with the hydr angle.

Probably will in the end, though.

Speaking of rear blade hydraulics... I have a whole bunch of goodies waiting for me at home from MtnviewRanch to convert my manual offset to hydraulic offset. Can't wait to try it out

Have you decided how you are going to operate ALL those cylinders? Dumb question, you have 4 sets of rear remotes.

LP's economical RB that you can get hydraulic angle on is the 37 series. Bad design though, you have to move the cylinder from side-side whenever you reverse the blade. :thumbdown:

Is that just a 37 series thing? I'm pretty sure on my 40 series it has a mounting hole for the cylinder on both sides, so you can disconnect the rod end, turn the blade, and reconnect using the other hole.
I thought the only difference between the two was the added strength/weight in the frame? Although, I've never seen a 37 series in person.

On my blade the instruction manual lists mounting points for a manual diverter, could get away with less remotes that way

With three rear remotes and top and tilt, and a RB with hydraulic offset and angle: how about using one of the 3 rear remotes for the angle and some hoses from the front 3rd function connectors for the offset?

That would work. Rear diverter system is nicer-easier, but the front 3rd function will get the job done, that's for sure. :thumbsup:

For you guys looking at maybe picking out a Bison rear blade I can say it's a strong sucker, I been moving a bunch of dirt with it and working it pretty hard.

My only gripe so far is the pin for blade tilt is a bugger to pull in and out, so I need to set the blade on a chunk of wood to take the weight off the removable pin and onto the bigger pivot pin...if that makes any sense.
Once I put hydraulic on it won't be an issue at all though. I plan to do that soon.
