Back from vacation, a walk around the yard

Here are some pics of some critters we saw on the way back from vacation. The deer and coyote were between Montrose Colo. and Durango Colo. The other pic is of some elk we saw near a tree line near Chama New Mexico. I counted 50 in this group (using binoculars). Wife zoomed in with her camera, but they still were pretty far off. We get our share of cold weather, snow, mud season, but not many snakes and none like you have down there. so I will take our cold weather and black flies anyday. It will be a few months before we have any real garden stuff going on here.

Woke up this afternoon (I worked last night), my son says, dad, did you see the snake I killed. It was a chicken snake. Sorry for the bad pic, had to take it with the game cam, (wife run off today with the digital camera). Snake is about 5' long.
