Back on trailer ? Which is safer ? Dealer says on his lot you back on

My John Deere manual recommends backing on in case the hood comes unlatched. I haul forward because I like the point it balances better that way.

I backed my 4410 on once. The fuel door caught the wind and was gone when I got home. It'll never happen again.

Depending on what kind of a dealer you have I'd be tempted to look for a different dealer. If they have attitude about this there will be other issues too.

Never really thought about it. Usually I just pull my tractors on forward up to the nose of the trailer. Yes ik probably not distributed properly but I usual have more stuff to put on and they are narrow fronts so they are a bit lighter.

If I am hauling on the rollback I back on because it puts more weight on the front of the truck. If I'm hauling on the gooseneck I drive in forward.

I backed trailers all my life almost and unless there is a compelling reason not to drive it on, I would drive it on. I find it is much easier to keep everything centered and all lined up straight when driven on. Then backing off there is less chance driving off the side.

To me it is like driving a truck through a 9' wide garage door and keeping it straight in the garage. It is much easier to back out straight than to back in straight. Maybe it is just my quirk.

Chain is not touching loader , they welded a U bolt at the hood guard for a 3/8 chain to go through
