Yep, it's all relative. Coming up on 50 now, I get to tell guys in their 30's about how great the 1980's were, and that we used to talk on phones attached to the kitchen wall. Yet those born in the 1950's look at me and shake their heads, knowing how much stuff I missed in the 1960's.
Personally, I was born about 10 years later than I should have been. My favorite music was all made in the early- to mid-1970's. Most of my favorite bands were founded in the late-1960's, but other than Court of the Crimson King, none of them really matured into what made them great (for me) until after 1970.
The 1960s coincided with my teenage years, but I'm not especially nostalgic for those days. No particular reason, just a time of my life that I'm glad is behind me. The late 70s & 80s were a much better time for me. Maybe I'm a Gen X'er in a boomer's body. :D

I came of age late 70s early 80s.
I was a piston head and was about 10 years late for that era of muscle car.
Gas was way up and the 60s early 70s muscle was disappearing.
You could still find someone at the lights but it was dying.
The sort of cruising like in American Graffiti with the stereo playing and the headers thumping had run it's course.
Now lots of kids around here don't even care about getting their drivers licence.
Those that do drive have rice rockets and subwoofers.
It's just annoying. At least back then a car with sound could lite them up on a whim and leave you hanging on for life.
Used to put a $20 on the dash and tell people if they could pick it off while I was accelerating it was theirs. Didn't lose.
Favorite engine was the 351 Cleveland Boss. Huge valves and intake/exhaust ports. Needed rpms to take full advantage but at about 4000 it was like putting a rocket on your back.
Some guys thought they had me at first but about half way down I would just walk past them.

I was born in 46.

The 60s, & 70s were crazy fun. Met the love ❤️ of my life in 84, have been together ever since! The price of gas 24.9 cigarettes 25 cents, furnished studio apartment 89.50, three of us split the rent, one dollar a day to live in the Bay Area!
I feel sorry for the young people nowadays!

Old Tyme Rock N Roll.
I have a hard time listening to much recorded after 1985.
Seeger is my guy.

Agree. Quantity of quality rock sure dropped off about then.
The quality of what got air time on the radio dropped off about then, but it's not like the world stopped producing talented composers and musicians. In fact, my favorite genre went thru a huge neo-prog resurgence in the mid-1990's into the early-2000's. Even popular radio still contained at least a few gems all through the 1990's, which have become true classics today.

I should start another thread on "new classics", or new tunes for old rockers. I think you'd be surprised how much great newer content is out there, just harder to find today than turning on your favorite radio station in 1973.

Radio stations themselves have changed a lot over the years. At one time it wasn't uncommon to have stations give air time to local bands. "Underground rock" was once a way to give new bands airplay... quite unlike what it's portrayed as on Sirius.

I’m surprised that a 50 year old TV is still working.
