I say he did a real nice job as he was rolling up the sod so he could refill the hole and cover it up like he didn't even touch the nice green lawn:D

Great work and you will get better at it real fast!!

Guess I should explain how I had the nerve to dig a hole in the lawn and even ask my wife to record it. Truth is, it was our horses lawn (pasture) and they didn't care as long as I covered them back up and gave them some extra grain :D
Hey, a guy needs a place to practice right? and I need a lot of it.

Being the type of person who can never seem to leave "well enough" alone I have decided to also make the BH 3 point attachable as well. Never know when the need may arrise to hook it up to a different tractor.
Maybe I'll never have to do that however, it will at least have the capability. Of course I will have to remove the subframe but that's only 6 bolts.
I'll post some photos when mounted on the 3 point.

Don't do it! (3ph) You'll end up with 10 friends with 3PH tractors that you never knew you had! Ya know what that means?? Lots more 'pasture holes'! :D ~Scotty
(When I bought my JD47 BH on e-bay, the bidding was brisk 'til someone asked if it mounted on a 3PH. When the answer was "No", the bidding stopped!! 'Cept for me! :D)

I hear what you're saying.
Well, I un-bolted the subframe and hooked it up to the 3PH. Drove around a bit, made a few runs out back to dump some horse manure just to see how it handled. That lasted about 1/2HR . Proved to myself that it would work but the difference in 3PH -vs- Subframe is like day & night.
Anyway, it works but will probably never use it as a 3PH backhoe again.
At least it has the capability if the need arrises.

Very nice job on the BH. How much swing do you have? Could you post a picture of the swing cylinder and bottom of boom mount. I have been slowly building a BH for a while now, and I don't like the position of the swing cyl on my plans, and it only calls for 160 degrees of swing. I would like to be able to come up along side a ditch and clean it out with a wide low profile bucket/ditch bucket at a 90 degree stop point.

Do you have a built in stop to keep you from damaging your cylinder. One design I saw, had a frame built around the cyl.

JJ-
I'm not certain how much swing I have, I would guess in the 160-170 range. I will measure it tonight.

Let me know if you would like a different photo.

No, I have not installed stops however, I plan on doing so. Will post photos when installed.
I suppose I would have prefered dual swing cylinders but was getting anxious to get it completed and didn't get it designed. I was going to mount them behind and to each side of the pivot point but never got it worked out to my satisfaction. I am surprised how well it works with just one though.
