I went with the pull behind finish mower instead of the mid-mount.

I was thinking of digging a good sized koi pond. My dad also wants one. Just seems that the considering the cost of renting a larger machine for a couple of days, it might be worth it just buy the backhoe for the tractor I already own. It may take longer to dig, but at least I'd own the backhoe.

Certainly won't get any argument from me with that concept. Besides, it means more "seat time" /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

When you hook up the hydraulics for the backhoe do you disconnect the loop from the supply and leave the loop hanging and hook up the backhoe return to the tank return on the tractor case like other bigger tractors? IF so where is the tank port located on the tractor case?

When the BH is not hooked up, there is a short loop hose that connects the two ports on the Power Beyond block together. When you hook up the BH, the loop hose is disconnected on one end and connected to one of the BH hoses and the other hose is connected to the other port of the power beyond connector block.

Does that answer you question?

jr,

Cliff gave you the answer. I would only add that, at least for me, I often find it difficult to get the pressure down on the BH hydraulics to where I can get the connectors to mate. A few others have commented on this. I've found I often have to put a rag on the end of the male connector from the BH and press it (HARD) against the ROPS bar to drain just a little fluid. Just be careful you don't get sprayed.

i also use the 4115 with 46 backhoe, and i love it! i run large machinery on a daily basis at work, and the 46 passes the "pound-for-pound" comparison. it certainly impressed me. i use mine for commercial jobs, where my large equipment is way too big.

I have a 47 hoe for my 4300, would have preferred the extra reach of the 48 hoe but the price was a lot better on the used 47 than a new 48. We have 85acres of rocks, stumps and swamp and I am slowly enlarging and deepening my "pond". By careful planning I can scoop out a pile of clay, set it where I can pick it up with the FEL then move it to higher ground. I can only work in the pond during Sept, Oct when it is dryer and the water level is low. A mini-excavator would be simpler with the 360degree swing but they rent for about $800/week up here and the hoe gets used almost every week all summer for one thing or another.
