- 3550 Fard Backhoe and a 1948 Farmall Cub,
When i was 16 my older brother got me a job at a factory a friend managed and I was a production welder and machinist. They put me in the back with a screw machine and 900 3/16 rods and let me load the machines and haul off product. We were making some valve stems for some company out west and we'd make a dump box full about 3.5 yards capacity and take them to deburring. I had a miserable manager and he kept me good and yelled at. I was running with a loaded box and told the manager no brakes he told me i didnt have time to worry about them. The back floor had a been poured on top of another to fix the old cracked floor from the machinery there. I missed the little ramp and my little Towmotor made a hard stop and the dumper shot off the forks landed sideways on an old press and lost several thousand valve stems.
I learned to not listen to the boss when running a lift and operate at my own safe pace. I need an outside lift ruck bad but the price they are ill have to settle for a mast off one hooked to the tractor.
