Still looking...
Anyone have a B2920 with the backhoe on it?

I'm leaning toward the B2920 if I get new and have seen multiple posts saying that it's less expensive if you buy the tractor with what you want on it instead of buying the implements later on...

Is this true?

Does anyone have any backhoe experiences they can share on this B2x20 series and especially compared to the BX model?

I expect you'll hear suggestions to go to the new B3200 model for the better hoe and implement handling abilities.

It's too big - I realized I have another post talking about this and there are suggestions to get the 2620, but going to a B would probably be a "step up" for me and I'm trying to go a step up. A lot of posts say to go one larger and the B 2x20 series are all about the same size, but the 2920 have more umph.

I hear a lot about the backhoe on the BX series, but not much on the backhoe on the B2x20 series - wonder why??

Probably because the BX23, BX24, and BX25 are popular BX models that come with the loader and backhoe.

Not sure what your question is? I have B2920 w/bh. BH's are quite expensive and very difficult to justify. I have maybe 30hrs on mine in the last 220hrs. Will it ever pay for itself...(No). Am I glad I own it...(absolutly). It makes me self sufficient and I take on projects I may not have done otherwise. I bought the tractor to replace early 80's B7100 gear I used for mowing and throwing snow. The 2920 was perfect for me and I knew I was pushing the envelope for size and weight with a belly mower on my very hilly lot. B7800 and B3030 were to big for my needs and 2920 with shorter wheelbase but still wide and low enough to be stable on slope. Do I think the extra HP over 23xx or 26xx was flawed thinking?...(No), HP would be helpfull in clutch situations.

The thought that it is cheaper to buy everything you need on the front side is correct because most dealers look at the margin on the tractor to offset the cost of installing the options...rear power beyond, subframes, rear remotes ect. Hope my thoughts are helpfull.

I have a 2920. Do a search for my post will yield a few issues on my tractor that are irritating but I still love my B (this past May I upgraded from a BX22 TLB).

I also have the BH65 BH with 16 inch bucket. I will be very old by the time the BH pays for itself however as it was just stated I like the idea that I can stroll to the barn and hook it up when I want to dig a hole. After you start to use a BH you will throw your hand shovel away ;).

Note that on the BX I had a 12 inch bucket and was on the fence going with the 16 inch due to the fact that I did not think it would engage the ground very well. Well I can happily state it digs in my rock laden Connecticut soil with little difficulty. The funny thing is I was very used to my little 12 inch (no pun intended) :D and when I first went to dig with the 16 - boy does this thing displace dirt! - If you ever want to get into the grave digging business definitely go with a 16 inch!!!

Oh and get the thumb you will be very happy you did.

Other than that I would agree the 2620 is possibly the best value of the smaller B however for me (since I was upgrading from a 22 hp BX) it was a small price to gain the 3 HPs and was worth it to satisfy my thirst for a larger machine (whether I use these extra HP or not) - my muscle car days may have contributed to this thinking - more HP the better ;)

Good luck with your decision.

Be safe and do not forget to THINK and or call before you dig!
