The review posted by raudabt a few days ago was the only negative post I've ever seen of a BX. Anyone else have the problems he was describing? I'm looking at a BX23 and wondering if that machine has similar hose locations, etc. that he mentioned.

Interesting that even with the reviewer's complaints...he gave it five stars!! <G>

Seriously, I had no problems with the BX2200 I owned before my BX22 other than a recall on the fuel tank, and the BX22 has been super. (Had a lose nut on the FEL controls, but that was easily fixed) The mower deck has been similarly problem-free. I've had it since the original BX purchased in 2000 and it's just now requiring a new belt over the winter. I've had ZERO maintenance cost other than fluids/filters as scheduled.

They had a bad batch of front steering racks early on- seals got compromised by water. It got so that the tractor would wander while mowing and if I turned the wheel slowly, the tires wouldn't even turn- only if I started by snapping the wheel hard.
Fixed under warranty, though. Have also had the fuel tank leak problem and although it was "fixed" it has developed the leak again, so I don't brimful the tank.
I'm sure the 2230s and BX23s don't have these same issues.

I give my BX 5 stars!!!!

Well, your profile is empty and I don't know what you will be using the BX23 for, but I have one and have been very happy. It has been a real workhorse for my 3 acres that I am clearing. The terrain I have is realatively flat, but native. So there is alot of brush and trees to clear. I tore a fuel line at about 40 hours. Two dollars of hose at the autoparts store and ten minutes to fix. I had a bad bucket curl cylinder that was covered under warrantee. Covered by a dealer that I did not purchase from I might add. The clearance is not too much of an issue for me, but once again I don't know what your situation is. So my input is that I am well pleased with my machine. I puchased it in april of this year and am just about to roll 300 hours. All hard working hours, as I don't have a lawn yet.

Yes I had many problems with my BX2200. Even with:

A. Engine oil and filter changes every 25 hrs. (switched to Amsoil after 50 hrs.

B. Hydro Super UDT and filter changes and screen cleaned first 50 hrs. and every 100 hrs. after.

C. Air cleaner changed every 50 hrs.

Greased every 50 hrs.

And that is why I sold it and bought a B7500. The B7500 is great! NO COMPLAINTS!!!!
Problems @ just before 300 hours are as followes:

1. Fuel tank leaking replaced tank and fuel sending mount.

2. vibration problems and driveshaft to hydro had to be replaced twice. once @ approx. 125 hrs. and again @ aprox 279 hrs. cause is grease is no staying in boots due to high rpm's and cv joints wore out.

3. air cleaner bracket broke.

4. HST Cooling fan broke twice due to branches. First was covered and second had to be paid for.

5. complete three point hitch cradle assembly had to be replaced due to the holes being worn out by fine sand. Please note that even though it is a very strong assembly Kubota made it with no replecement bushings so everything had to be replaced. Was covered under warentee. Please note Kubota inspected the parts. They found they were out of spec. so replecement was made very fast.

6. front right inner tie rod end boot replaced twice.

7. front axle had play at pivot pin just like 3 point hitch assem. I did not bother to have it replaced because I made up my mind that I was getting rid of it.

8. Brake let go, tractor rolled down a hill and hit a tree. damage was left fender and left three point hitch draw bar. Kubota found brake latch assemm. was defective and a retro fit had to be made otherwise the whole tractor frame had to be replaced. The retrofit worked great!! (Was covered under warentte).

9. 3 point was loosing lift after aprox. 3 hours. run time. I did not bother to have it repaired because I made up my mind that I was getting rid of it.

10. Hydro shaft seal leaking. I did not bother to have it looked at because I made up my mind that I was getting rid of it.

11. Driveshaft assembly for front axle has alot of play.
I did not bother to have it looked at because I made up my mind that I was getting rid of it.

12. Front axle pinion assembly has alot of play.I did not bother to have it looked at because I made up my mind that I was getting rid of it.

Please note: Kubota Warentte is excellent!!!! The work has been carried out that I requested with no issues. The service dept at my kubota dealership is tops!!!!

Also Kubota enginering dept. in California called me In May of 2004 and stated that the Kubota enginers from Japan are here in the States and they thanked me for my list of issues and sugestions about my BX2200 and said they are in the works designing the next generation BX and my input has helped them solving some issuses.

To the BX owners. Please don't take this as I am bashing the BX. That is not my intention. I had issues with parts prematurly wearing from very fine sand. and issues that many of you had. It could of cost me a fortine if Kubota's warentte was second rate.

A tractor is a big investment and I am glad to go with Kubota because I feel there service to the customer is tops!

It turns out that the B7500 is holding up very well and I feel it is better suited for my needs.

The BX2200 has been replaced with the 2230 now and for what your looking to buy the BX22 is now a 23. The differences are small but Kubota has seemed to attack the leaking fuel tank and broken straps ect... all small issues but they were addressed. A new engine is also in the 2230 and 23 vs the old 2200 and 22.
It's hard for someone to look at an old model, compare it to a new one and ask if it's junk or not.
If it was me owning the lemon mentioned in that post I be /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif also. He's got a point.

Most times you'll see it's a good product with issues people can deal with. My 2230 had a loader float problem at 10hrs and was fixed under warranty. I'm not upset because thankfully you get a 2 year warranty on the machine, 3 year on the drivetrain and 1 year on FEL, MMM and such. If it's going to fail you sure pray it's right away so it can be fixed.

All in all I'd think your getting a good machine
