Bah. We got one of those Tuesday. It was an expensive Christmas 'farm-fresh variety pack', a big box of local organic vegetables and fruit. Very nice. The delivery guy dropped it and ran. No address on it and the packer's phone recording said 'closed for the holidays until January 4'.
We phoned everybody we could think of who might have gifted it to us. I've given friends a couple hundred lbs of organic apples, pears, persimmons, this year so is seemed reasonable it was intended for us. I even called the neighbor with the same address over on the next street because we get his mail occasionally. Nothing.
Finally late in the day I got an email reply from the vendor. It should have gone to my neighbor next door. She hadn't come home so I hadn't asked her yet, but as a single and rather keep-to-herself woman I didn't expect she would even want this much fresh produce all at once so I hadn't considered her a likely recipient. ... So at the end of the day I had bothered several of our friends over nothing. Its awkward to ask anyone if they sent you a gift, when it probably wasn't from them and neither party intended to exchange gifts. Bah humbug!
Well anyway Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everybody!
