I was totally against a hst one reason because of the brake issue another because I'm a hard head I guess. Now I've had a loaner from the dealer and put over 30 hours on it, my opinion has changed. The tractor is a little baby B20 its a real hobby horse compared to mine took some getting used to thats for sure. But I had alot of loader work to do even though its a little baby its a workhorse and the hst is a timesaver when doing forward-reverse tasks. I believe my next tractor will have a hst.

Bout time you get a brush brute isn't it? Or are you waiting until this winter when I make mine? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I was kinda hoping you'd make two... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I sure would've liked to see that thing on the stuff I've been working on for the past three days.

Bird,

I think that 4WD makes a lot of sense for them. I had a lot of trouble working in the mud or slick areas and never knew how much better it could be with 4WD.

Mydad got a 2WD tractor stuck on his farm and he was working along. He had a 4WD truck and tied it to the tractor, then a 2 WD pickup to the front of that one and had all three vehicles running with him only on the tractor until he pulled it out. Then he had to go get each of the other trucks shut down.

I suspect the county workers just called for another tractor to pull them out. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Been giving that chain a workout? I'm going to build one to start and go from there first I have to see how good its going to work and improve from there. Have you been using the box fingers at all or just the hoe?

Whoay,

Can't say I've never been in the orange country. There are 733 views at the moment and I'm remembering when like chickens and thier heads a bobn', everyone was looking for the sob that fills the feed bowl. Has it been two years? When only the orange pushed and shoved to see, smell, and touch the new Grand L's. Like wondering what the hats would look like at the Kentucky Derby. I "was" one of them. All in good time. I see a time for a new middle wieght and it's not orange. 733 views at last check proves that to me. I like Mark's comment on having no color loyalty. "My Daddy come out of Sheridan, Arkansas and it took me 40 years to become color blind." If I had bought at the latter time, probably yes to orange. My first daughter was a carrot head. There is a middle wieght here that had to be addressed in any color. DEPENDING on where and how you would use it. There is a line where you have a toy or a tractor. Some people are misinformed buyers or don't research. My "first" pair of work boots were not Red Wings.
The magic is as simple as growing up around an entire generation of values and colors and smells that are comfortable and warm as Mom! At least she never wanted on a tractor to deprive me of playing in the dirt.
I have had to decide on a rig that can be moved to a new location in a few years and do different things. It's HP can do what is needed now without abuse and not cost the farm. This class of tractors have been with us since before my generation. Utilities. May be able to pull baler (powered or unpowered), simple to fix or priced good to service. Like a swiss army knife, but not right out of the BOX. This new blue can be ordered off the truck as you want it. Saving either your wallet or the servicemans time to install the options. (some service is dual, as in yellow and heavy and busy) That does not make your rig second class.
This is or can mean value. At this time or down the road. Yes, only time will tell and you'll hear anything different.
My first instinct or gut feeling have worked for me.
Now lets see, ...I'd like to add the Blue Bradco, the 4 in 1 can stay black, white trailer please. Just hitch it up to the old Blue Ford.

Good luck with your new BLUE utility tractor (I am not sure which one you are buying). I was luckier than you, I fixed my MF245 and sold it. The Kubota (M6800SD)is a wonderful improvement. I could never tell for sure what the cost comparison was with the comparable 68 HP NH tractor, but it seemed to be about the same, although it looked like less until you started adding options.

If the red wings are that good, I need to get a pair. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yeah, buddy! But I sure wish I'd had those grubbing tongs I asked about in another post. I'm going to order them today. If they work as advertised, it would have to be a hundred times better than wrapping that choker chain around every little tree. Especially the smaller stuff, 'cause you have to wrap it 2 or 3 times to get it to hold.

I'm interested in hearing how the experiment goes - I might make one myself, if you won't do it for me. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

How well does the four in one bucket work at pulling up small trees? Close bucket and then roll the bucket back.
How fast does the bucket close its jaw?
I won't start working on the brush brute until fall the way my schedule is so far. Like I said its a good winter time project.

Gordon, it works very well, especially since I put the 2.5" lift cylinders on. I've technically got more lifting power than rollback power now, so I just clamp the tree, then pull up. It's a little tough to do it without cutting the tree off, though. I've found that having the pressure gauge really helps here - I just clamp the tree with 1200 or so pounds of force, instead of letting it build up to 2500. I've been very pleased with the results. The bucket jaw closes plenty fast to suit me. The closing speed is identical to the rollback speed, because the cylinders are the same size, but they don't have to travel as far.
