Very nice J_J. Looks like fun.

A past mentor of mine, well into his 80's, is now building 3D printers from scratch. I think it's the itch to create that keeps us young.

Hello everyone. Thought I would drop in and let you what is going on.

I am not into hyd any more. CNC routing/engraving is what I am doing now. I have two X-CARVE machines and expecting a laser burner real soon. You think hyd is hard, try remember all this CNC stuff, routing, laser, and plasma cutting.

I may have to gets me one of those! I assume it just runs on software like a vinyl cutter where you don't actually have to do any programming?

I bought a vinyl cutter years ago that I use from time to time. Thought it might become a side job but ended up just a play toy. My daughter got her own and a heat press and has made a few bucks doing tee shirts.

That 'itch' is what keeps me going.
Helps that a good buddy is totally non technical and that he considers me his 'go to' technical arm.

He operates a storage facility and we recently made a freight elevator using a 4 post car lift.

Then he also has tractors for snow duties but that's not enough as he also purchased 2 huge highway snow blowers.
All those pieces of machinery are enough to keep 3-4 people on the go.
Mind U with this season's snows the blowers are out earning $200/hr working for local cities and even the provincial highway dept.
Gov't auctions are a blast, where else can U purchase $200K machines for $25K that only have 130 hrs of usage.
Change the oil and ready to go.

Mind U I rarely get my hands dirty, just advise and do some odd welding and electrical repairs.

you have a loyal following here. Thank you for coming back and letting us know all is well!!

You have patiently walked many of us along the road to increased hydraulic knowledge and I for one feel an obligation to "pay it forward."

Glad to hear you are still kicking. Was sorry to hear the rumors and thought them to be true.

On the gut thing. I had chemo back in 2013 and it left my defense mechanisms vulnerable. Antibiotics and I don't do well any more. What i did find was that the good "bugs" in your gut get killed off by the meds. and leaves you very vulnerable to a new infection.

Cure for me has been is probiotics and yogurt. Swansonvitamins.com item number B 2326082 is a super bugger....billions of bugs per tablet. I'm coming off a bad attack right now.....had a urine infection and did the 10 day antibiotic thing. 4 days later in the hospital.....meds. killed off good bugs and I didn't know what I am telling you now. Was given another antibiotic to kill the second infection but this time I knew to get what I said and I am a couple of weeks over the 10 days of ABs and doing fine this time.

J_J An added note. Several years ago I posted a picture of one of my riding lawn mower chassis' converted to a log splitter power unit. I used water pipe fittings in several places wherein I wasn't able to get regular hydraulic fittings. You dinged me on that and I deserved it. Well sir, I have since upgraded and installed the correct fittings. Thanks, wink.
