Hey, thanks, Joe. I would not work in the environment you described, either. As cowboydoc said earlier, 99% of the blame for a childs behavior can be laid at the feet of the parents. If your going to bring them into the world, better be prepared to do what it takes to raise them IMHO. The other sad part of the external environment is who the kids are allowed to idolize, IE 50 cent, eminem, and others of that ilk. I have kids come to school and think pimping is a good word. Not to mention some others that they know better than to use at school! And the girls all want to walk around with their belly button showing, we don't allow that either. As for the bus thing, we enforce the same discipline policy and results/consequences as if they are in school, several students have lost bus privileges for bad behavior choices. School is for learning acedimec subjects, the kids should already have learned proper behavior at home. I'll get of my soapbox now. Chet

I wasn't offended but Imay have come off that way, sorry. I just didn't want to be lumped in with some gung-ho sports neanderthals you may have run into /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I love sports but like anything else when taken to the extremes it's a problem. Too many folks living their sports dreams through their kids. I think the main thing I want my children to get out of sports or any activity is

1.) do your best
2.) if you join a team or a group you have an obligation to that group so you make the practice or meetings and do your fair share

If they gain nothing but that it is a worthwhile endeavor.

Me, I don't live through my kids, I am still delluding myself and continue to seek my own athletic destiny /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

We we were not allowed to throw kids off the bus. God forbid something should happen to little Johnny on his way home. Somebody will sue.

Bottom line on all of this discussion is parental involvement, preferably both parents.

One valuable lesson that can be learned through sports is losing gracefully. Kids need to learn that things don't always go their way. They learn that life isn't perfect and how to deal with it.
