You could be detained along the side of the road for possibly hours while they do that. Or they may impound your vehicle for holding at a secure location pending the warrant, sending you home on foot.

Seizing cash or property under CAF is not illegal. If you don't like it, lobby your Federal legislative reps to get it ended.

I ain't in cal. If I were they still must abide by the U.S.constitution. Not the Cal constitution

It's no wonder so many are shooting police at an alarming rate

Taking 'heart of Dixie' to mean Alabama:

"May 31, 2019

Civil asset forfeiture is a practice that allows law enforcement to seize private property they allege has been involved in criminal activity and subsequently keep, sell or destroy it. Under Alabama’s civil forfeiture laws, law enforcement agencies need only probable cause to seize property.

“Alabama’s current civil asset forfeiture practices allow too much room for abuse,” Hyden said. “Hundreds of Alabamians lose cash, cars and other property under this practice every year. Many of them are never convicted of a crime – or even charged with one. And many people can’t afford to hire a lawyer to challenge these seizures in court.”

With deep roots in common law, civil forfeiture was originally used as a way to incapacitate organized crime groups.

“But today, aided by deeply flawed federal and state laws, many police departments use forfeiture to benefit their bottom lines, making seizures motivated by profit rather than crime-fighting,” ... "

Or maybe Mississippi:

Proponents of civil asset forfeiture will argue that such a practice is needed to keep illegal drugs out of Mississippi. That this is the best tool to stop drug mules from crossing Interstates 10 and 20 and reaching your neighborhood. But that argument quickly falls apart when you look at the latest data about the reality of how the practice is used both here in Mississippi and in the nation’s largest civil forfeiture program.

A review of the first 18 months of the state’s civil forfeiture database shows Mississippi law enforcement isn’t necessarily busting drug kingpins, but more likely collecting cash, an iPhone, or a vehicle if a person is in possession of an illegal substance.

The value of the 315 seizures in the database averaged $7,490 per seizure. When a single high-dollar forfeiture is removed from consideration, that average value drops to $5,422. Less than 10 seizures statewide amounted to more than $60,000.

The vast majority of seizures were for $5,000 or less and fully one-third were for less than $1,000. In two instances, law enforcement seized just $50 in cash. Since attorneys’ fees and court costs quickly add up to more than those amounts, many people don’t even try to contest a low-dollar forfeiture. "

I've run into non-customer fees before and said fine... Use this check to open my new account and later I will leave a penny in the account.

The B of A I use has been in place since 1948.

The scary part is that if you are carrying a large sum of money, chances are that some of it has been in proximaty to drugs at some point; so the dogs are going to signal on it.
Not on just large sums of money but on paper money you receive back in change an almost any store, even at a convenience store or gas station.

Good for you! I went "Once too often". Wised up pretty quick and moved to WF. Happy ever since.
I assume that “WF” means Wells Fargo. Am I the only one who sees the irony in that statement?

ya, I am pretty sure WF would be one of the ones on the very bottom of my list.....

well unless you like being signed up for financial products without even knowing it, I guess it does lesson ones stress of indecision!

I understand many of you have reservations about Wells Fargo from the media reports. But in my experience, banks are location specific, just like tractor dealers. Some are really good, some are horse-pucks. Wells Fargo offered me locations in both areas of the country where we frequently travel and conduct business, as did BOA. BOA couldn't care less about taking care of customers inside, or outside the bank from my observation and experience in dealing with them.

Wells Fargo has always been friendly, professional, and never has mandated additional products, or accounts. I've been a customer for over 5 years now, and no problems whatsoever.

Maybe you nay-sayers should question the media you listen to, or discover the facts for yourselves. You can hate WF all you want. Doesn't bother me. I hate the local Kubota dealer, he's arrogant, incompetant, and a horrible businessman. Many of you like yours. That's fine. Have at it!
