Wow!!! What a project.........There is nothing like the satisfaction and pride you get from building something like that.

Jim, I hope you have kids that are helping you. When they are married and have kids they can point to the barn and tell their childern........."Your grandad and I restored that barn way back in the year 2004." /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a guy that I hired to help me on this project. Or should I say that I am helping him out since I am paying him. You could not do this project alone. I have also quit my job to work on the barn and house full time to make sure it gets done. Both of my kids are in college right now. My daughter is moving into the house in about a year. She is going to be a veternarian and the barn will come in handy for both of us. I live 200 yards down the road. My son did help the guy out 2 weeks ago while he was home and I was away on vacation.

It is always nice to see someone making the effort to do something like it should be done! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Great job!

Are you going to have the roof on before the snow flies?

Wow!!!... what a project. Looks like you're pretty handy with that chainsaw.... I couldn't do that good with a skill saw /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Please post more as you go along....love the character of old barns and the large timbers/beams.

I am considering buying a much smaller 12-14" saw for doing beam ends and joists. The Husky Farm 55 I have with a 20 blade gets heavy after awhile. I'll try to keep the photos coming in. Today we are putting in the last few outside beams on the north wall which will complete the main frame. Next will be the pearling for holding up the rafters. Then finally the new (12) rafters that I have made from trees.

History in the making and wonderful for generations to come.
I hope to see more as you progress. Thanks, as I am inspired with what to do with an old out building of my own.

Regards, Mark
