i will sometimes swap batteries between well used and unused equipment just to keep stuff fresh.

setting and no use is what kills them.

I wish . I used to have trucks and a crane , two tractors and what ever. Now I have 2 subarus , a Ford tc34da and a MF 35E TLB . The only one I have trouble with is the MF Lack of use but the other batteries are too small I think. THe MF is supposed to have a case 31 battery but I have always put in 24's and it seems to start fine.
I used to pull 2 24's out of the trucks and put them in series to start the crane 24v . I am going to get a new float charger and see how that works. I think I had some overseas thing that said float but I don't think it was.
I just ordered a Deltran 4 stage 1.25 v

Not to hijack, but if you have a 24v system in the crane, get a two bank marine charger. they are designed to charger 24 or 36v series trolling battery banks. They have isolated grounds so you can leave it hooked up even with your batteries in series for the starter.
