Showing people what they can buy in 10 years in the way of an EV does not indicate any near-term plans for EVS in my book.

Yeah, not very leading edge , at least on a sale date.

Tesla may have millions of 4680 equipped vehicles with over 500000 miles on them still going strong before Toyota sells it's first solid state battery equipped car.
Looks like Tesla may produce and sell over a million cars This year.

I've planted thousands of new trees. I don't think I've planted any new coal. ;)
Or grown any new dinosaurs. Yet. Fun trivia but oil doesn't really come from dead dinosaurs. I guess there could potentially be some random dead dinosaur in your oil but that's one of those wives tales that just keeps going.

Just heard a good quote.

"Hydrogen is the fuel of the future, and always will be."

In WV they also flatten off the hilltops in order to build shopping centers. But that’s ok.

Shopping centers don't produce coal sludge, toxic chemicals, plug up streams. No comparison. Dirty Coal has no future.

a comment was made a while back that burning wood is carbon net zero because the tree had been capturing carbon it's entire life, just releasing what it had been saving.

can't the same logic be applied to oil and coal. coal is dead plant matter that had been saving carbon all its life and oil is dinosaurs which are also carbon life forms.

i know nothing but my BS detector just went off.

a tree sequestering carbon for 50 years then releasing it all in a week of burning just doesn't seem to balance but....

i know nothing......
If you have 100 acres of trees, and clear 2 acres every year for 50 years then you are growing as much wood as you are burning. By the time that you cut the last 2 acres, the trees growing where you cut 50 years ago have replaced them.
It's not a perfect exchange unless you are using a bowsaw and hand maul to cut it up, then hauling the wood out with a donkey and cart. There really is no such thing as a perpetual motion machine.

The only way that would work with coal is if you only dug as much coal as is produced in a year.
Oil is not from dinosaurs BTW... ;)

Elon Musk estimates we need to DOUBLE the power generating and output capacity of the electrical grid in the US to support a near full transition to EVs. To me we need to tackle the power problem before we start requiring/recommending people move to EVs.
We don't need to be in that big a hurry. The transition will take decades. As has been discussed, it will be 50 years before we're converted to majority EV use. That's longer than the service life of power plants. Even the Grand Coulee is over halfway through its design lifetime. We're going to have to replace 90% of our electrical generating capacity anyway.
