I do apologize for hijacking this thread.
I always start mine with the trottle off, full choke and work up to 1/2 as I crank. I used to start it at 1/3 - 1/2 throttle, but I started having issues. It may be time for a valve ajustment on my Kohler. I have never done it in 13 years, and around 500 hours.I replaced both ground and hot wires to the battery in case that was not clear. Each is only one piece. I did not tie the ground directly to the starter.
I used it a bunch today and cannot say if started better. I have found that it starts easier when cold if the throttle is set to idle. That seems strange to me.
