Just a follow up...

I ordered the correct tie-down parts from Messicks (it was only $17, so it wasn't worth my time to fab something up, as I don't have extra metal around to do it, and a trip to Home Cheepo would have cost just as much).

I'm picking up the parts today, and will be back in business to mow; well if the rain will stop long enough for the grass to get dry enough to cut without making a mess of it.

Thanks to all for you help!
Jay

I see this is an old thread, but I found it today through google as I have a couple 8D batteries that were punctured in an accident, but were still showing correct voltage, but had two dry cells due to holes. I used a tool I bought from Harbor Freight that is called a Plastic welder that basically blows air through a tube that is heated by electricity and using a putty knife, I was able to heat the surrounding areas and seal the holes up. Melted the surrounding material. Filled with water and no leaks. Went ahead and put them on the charger and they show a strong read on the load tester.
