Battery Tender Connections

   / Battery Tender Connections #21
The gold standard for low voltage connections (12V) is Anderson powerpole connectors. I wire everything I have with these, motorcycles, tractor, etc. You run a short lead from the battery terminals to an Anderson powerpole connector. Let the new connector hang or sit in an accessible place. Tie wrap it if needed. They make rubber caps to keep dirt, moisture, etc. out of the connector. Then you also put an Anderson powerpole connector on your battery tender.

Time to connect? Just plug in ....

btw they make the connectors in various amp sizes as well.

That's nice work. Bulkhead fitting looks very factory. Also good that it's right by the key switch. No driving off with the tender attached.
Thank you. I think I got the idea from TBN member, 4shorts. Yeah I got tired of having a dangling wire sticking out from under the shroud near the pedal and catching muck.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but a 4 wire trailer plug would work and you may have that already or at least be able to get one at any parts store or WallyWorld. Just use two wires or double up two wires for each of your wires.

The battery is difficult to get to on my Yanmar, so I connect the positive lead of my Battery Tender to the positive terminal of the solenoid and the negative to any convenient spot that provides a good ground.
