Batwing Gear Box blew up

Have to chuckle just a bit, the bat wing over at the farm has had a couple of issues and one gear box is acting up now. It's an older Woods with some very convoluted gearboxs and slip clutches. The gearboxs have a solid inner shaft that passes the power through the gearbox and then hollow outer shafts that drive the bevel gears. Had a yoke on one of the wings spread and allow the u-joint to pop out. Repaired that once and it held for a while and then it spread again. So today was cutting the yoke off the shaft and we will order a new yoke and weld it back on the shaft. Only brush hog that I can recall that had the wing slip clutchs on the "rear" of the gearboxes.

Good job getting it off. I worked on one for DAYS on our old brush hog. With heat, pounding, prying, impacts, every darn thing we could think of and it didn’t move an inch. So instead of taking it off to tighten down the bolts holding the gearbox we just welded the gearbox solid and welded the bolts in place as I had planned to just get thru another year or 2 before buying a new brush hog anyway. Tough work for no results.

Interestingly, the gearbox on my 8 foot wide Land Pride shredder has the word 'Landpride' cast into it. Maybe cast in China, who knows.

I just changed gearbox on a 5 ft rotory. Stump jumper just falls off, because it has been taken off many times. It kept getting loose bolts, and kept having to take it off to tighten them up, until I used loc tight and double nutted them. But it leaked oil, and didn't get filled, and gears stripped out. I replaced gearbox and have it as secondary, as I bought a new landpride 6 ft.

here's a part of what we mow, since dad sold off the cows a few yrs ago. We mow about 50 acres of the 196 acre farm.

I'm struggling with editing the video, and using ClipChamp and CapCut to get it done. I prefer ClipChamp, but it never stops buffering on the drone footage. I can get Cap Cut to edit it down to what I want, then upload it back to my "Video" file, and then load it back to ClipChamp to add captions and change the speed. Both Apps can do this, but with the free versions, I'm limited to what they offer. I'm debating on paying for the full versions, but I'm not sure if I like them, or if I need to keep looking. I also think that I need a new computer, since mine is something like 13 or 14 years old. The fastest speed that I went to in that video was 22X
4k editing is tough on a computer. You can download the free version of DaVinci Resolve to try editing with it, but I suspect more computing power is what you need.

Update on my gear box. It took almost three weeks to get to the dealer, but it was at their other location for a few days before it went to the closer dealer. I brought the damaged gear box with me, and they gave me the new one. No paperwork, nothing to sign, we just traded them at the counter, and I was on my way home.

I'm very happy with PR Equipment, and Iron Craft. I don't blame them for the gear box issue, I know things break. I appreciate how easy it was to get the new gear box under warrantee. To me, that's the important part!!!!

It went together a lot faster and easier then it came apart. I was expecting there to be a battle getting the stump jumper back on, but it slid on easily, and then I maxed out the bolt with my 3/4 inch impact wrench.

The gearbox came full of oil, so I checked the site glass when it was all done, and it's full, so nothing to add there.

I mowed last weekend and I've been mowing in the evening this week with it. Everything is tight, and everything is working like it should.

I feel your gearbox pain. Lost a seal in the gearbox on the front deck of the F2560 mower last week. Saw smoke coming up from it. Kubota shop took it apart, has metal in it. New gearbox $1,600 plus another $700 for labor and misc parts to replace it. Since I only paid $5,000 for the mower last year, I am still way below the $26,000 for a new one. Still waiting for Smith & Sons to look at the gearbox on the Bush Hog after I ran over a stump and broke something. Bough a Land Pride RCF2072 so I could keep mowing.
