BCS Model 715 tiller?

You have to tilt the hood up. remove the 2 connections holding hte back of the hood down and it will tilt up. Then the plug is obvious. The book says full oil IIRC. But I go a little over half and I think Joel at earthtools agrees. Clear full doesn't leave room for expansion and the front shaft seal kept popping out on ours when clear full.

I can't remember if I had to remover the tiller from the tractor to get the hood open far enough or not, you can also pull the front pivot bolt out and just remove the hood.

Call earthtoolsbcs for both the book and dipstick.

Thanks. Looks like I may have to take the tiller off to access the plug. I will try and see if I can just remove the hood. What oil do you use for the transmission and tiller?

I haven't checked my manual, but I'm pretty sure it takes 80W90 gear oil in both the trans and the tiller gearbox. When I find my manual, if it's different, I will let you know.

Thanks. Do you actually have the manual for the 715? I have ordered a CD that has a parts breakdown and I think shop manual but not the regular manual. If you have the actual manual what is the capacity on the transmission and the tiller gearbox? I am reading that I have to actually remove the tiller box to check the tiller oil. With help on this forum from clytle374 I was able to find the transmission dip stick to check the transmission oil. My 715 serial number is 86816.

actually it was milkman who figured out what was going on with your dipstick, I just confirmed it.

The CD says 1.9 qts of SAE 90 EP oil. EP=extreme pressure. Tiller gearbox takes the same lube.

You should take the tiller off anyway to grease the pto part inside.

For checking the oil, it is probably easier to just remove the front pivot bolt and remove the tiller hood while it is on the tractor so the tiller is held still and level.

Hello everybody. I'm new to this site as i'm looking for parts for a bcs 715 tiller with an acme engine. I can't find any parts in Ireland so i have to expand my search. If anyone knows where i can get parts (mainly a carburator kit) i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks brian s.

If you need a parts breakdown for the engine or workshop manual I have them scanned to .pdf files

If the unit is older, 1970 1985 I have scanned the original operators manual to .pdf

Mainlinea

If you have the parts manual/work shop manual/operators manual for a 715 that would be helpful. I have a older 715 with 8HP ACME electric start that I need to get running.
