Beer

My favorite is "cold" guess that's why my wife says I am a beer "*****"

I used to have a fellow working for me who said he just drank whatever was the cheapest beer the store had; said he'd just tell the clerk, "I want a case of the cheapest beer you have." He said his school teacher wife found that embarrassing, told him if he wanted cheap beer to at least order it by name. And he said, "Nope, might not get the cheapest one if I did that."

Funny, but lazy. Was he lazy in other ways? You would think if you went to the same place, it would be the cheapest next week, unless there is a sale.

A skeleton walks into a bar and says, "Gimme a beer, and a mop."

To those who recommended Fat Tire, thank you. I picked up a six pack last night at the gas station and enjoyed it tremendously sitting on my back porch watching the wood burn in my fire pit.

Bells two hearted ale is the number one selling IPA (India pale ale) in the world. It is "hoppy" since more hops are used to make it but does not lack flavor. Compared this a pilsner (Budweiser) seems to have no flavor and little alcohol.

This is a good time to be a beer drinker. There are countless different kinds of beers available from all over the world and the number seems to increase every time I venture into the beer store.
There are at least 2 stores within 10 miles that have over 1000 different choices for beer.
you can get beer with an alcohol content of over 10%, you can get beer with berries, cucumbers, pumpkin, apples, grapefruit...just about anything you can think of.
luckily for me there are only 1 or 2 that I don't like or otherwise won't drink.
It's almost true to say. " I've never met a beer I didn't like".
To try and recommend one is a really difficult task and the only advice I can give is keep trying different kinds.....for obvious reasons. What's good to me may not be good to you.

I like fizzy Corona very cold from the bottle on hot day. But prefer the draft style for a slow drink, Boddington is the best I have found for at home and use an English traditional pint glass for the single pour.

I like wheat beers on a hot day. Very refreshing. Shocktop Belgian White is good.

First time I had Sangria was in Spain a few years ago when we where in Barcelona and decided to have lunch on a street called La Rambla. It was full of street vendors and entertainers. Really a fun place to just sit and watch what was going on all around us. The glass of Sangria was huge and we probably spent a good hour drinking it. It was perfect!!!!

About a month or so after getting home, we picked up a bottle of Sangria. It tasted the same as I remembered, but it wasn't the same at all. Sometimes it's where you are and what's happening that makes the drink. I've found this to be true with beer too. I've had the best beer of my life in places that where amazing, but they never seem to be as good when I get home and buy it locally. '

Peach sangria... 60\40 Moscato wine and peach seltzer water, and a shot of either peach brandy, or peach vodka. And a slice or two of peaches.

My SIL got Me into craft beers, Mannys summer ale in Seattle,WA, White UFO and Blue moon are my favorites. Having a Blue right now...

Bourbon barrel aged... anything, Nut Brown to stouts. I'll drink it... Just came back from two breweries that are a mile from home.

Since we're getting into warm weather, my choice for a refreshing beer is Leinenkugel Summer Shandy. Just the right amount of citrus, not too much fruit like a lot of the flavored beers.

My nemesis- if I wanted to drink whiskey, I' d buy whisky, and since a really bad night my freshman year of college in Kentucky, drinking their signature bourbons to serious excess, I jave been unable to stomach anything that has a whiskey or bourbon character without booting immediately.

Guinness has to be frosty cold or a person can't stand to chew and swallow the stuff.

= blasphemy

You'll never get a refrigerator chilled Guinness stout or any other stout in Ireland or GB. Drink them at "cellar" temp which is about 55F.

Stout/porter is not something to chug down quickly to quench thirst, that's what chilled lagers are for. Stouts are wonderful for sipping. Drink them like red wine or even good whiskey.

A really good summer seasonal beer is Abita strawberry lager, it has the perfect amount of strawberry taste, my usual beer is natural light in a can, bottled beer can get skunky when exposed to sunlight even for just a few minutes.

I know the sunlight is supposed to be bad for the beer, but I'll chance it. Natural Light was a favorite of mine for some years, but no matter what beer, or what soda pop, or even V-8 or other juice, I don't like drinking it from a can anymore when I can either pour it into a glass, or preferably buy it in a bottle to start with. So anytime I buy any drink in a can, it's only because I couldn't find it in a bottle.

Strawberry? What's with all this orange, lemon and fruit business anyway? Beer is supposed to taste like beer, not kool aid or fruit punch. Verboten in the fatherland for sure.
