You know of one now, me. I sure don't expect my neighbors to be as quiet as church mice and when they have work to do in the woods or fields that's entirely normal. If they pass through an an ATV or snow sled, fine. Plink for a while, that's fine too. It's the moderation that counts.

I have lived in suburban areas where the constant background hum of traffic nevers quits, day and night. Ditto if living near an interstate or turnpike. The noise related to lawncare alone in suburban areas can be constant during daytime. There can also be the hydraulic whine and clanging from dumpster pickups. Then there are base speakers on stereos that can be heard for hundreds of feet easily.

I have to agree. I JUST moved from outside Detroit suburbs to rural Ohio country. I, also, have heard all these noises above, and to me that's more aggravating than the occasional train closeby. Probably the biggest bit of noise pollution at the new place is the golfers across the street, whose voices rise to make that all-elusive birdie putt (that they probably cheated on;)), or the "tink" of the drive going into the very nice fishpond on #1.....
mostly aggravating because I'm sweating my @ss off mowing the grass or doing some kind of work, and they're havin fun.....

To the neighborliness part of it, I sure enjoyed assisting (appreciative) neighbors from all my past addresses, it gives a true sense of worth. I feel bad, I haven't had a chance to introduce myself to our current new neighbors, and offer any assistance....very soon!

My brother lived across a residential city street from a long golf course fairway - just about where the average tee shot would land distance-wise. He had to pick the 'lost' balls before he could mow. Easily filled a 5 gal. bucket every summer :D Every once in a while, a neighbor would lose a window. It sure isn't right for you to be sweatin' away while others are yuking it up. A lawn mower upgrade is called for :D

Which county in Ohio did you move to? I have family in Wood county.
Dave.

Bowling Green, LB. Just my Mom now and one brother when he isn't out on the road. Two nephews in Haskins.

We lived in Millbury until I was 12. I was sorry to see what the tornado did around there and Lake township.

My wife's family is from more over your way. Wooster, Millersburg, Massillon, Winesburg. Most of them are gone now except for her Aunt and Uncle living in an assisted care place in Canton. Aunt is losing her eyesight and the Uncle is pretty far along with Alzheimer's.

Now I am thinking of Trail Ring Bologna and Baby Swiss cheese :)

Nice mower/yard tractor! Now you need a sunshade for it. Is that an implement carrier on the front?

Yes, it's Cub's version of a Delta hitch, I have a front power angle blade which I use all the time, (in the avatar) and a blower for the occasional blizzard.....

Man, that's the life there. Right across the street from a golf course. If it weren't for the traffic and "hootin and hollerin" it would probably be great...... if your a golfer that is.
If your not a golfer the word would be "annoying".

I thought I would pop this back to the top...

Today's good dead..

Down the road a bit, bout a 1/2 mile, I have a neighbor with an ole bota 2500.
Woods loader...

well he is not doing so well.. Emphazima (spelling?) and he won't stop smoking.

his sister in law has a home up on the hill.. Part Rental, part her in town appt. She moved out of state several years ago...

she needed some dirt around behind the house to cover over new tar paper to help divert water from an old basement wall... don't judge- just a temp fix... as we are supposed to have a storm tonight.....

Well she really did not want to have her brother in law do it cause he does not need to be on the tractor...

so she called me.. I took a bucket from our driveway wash and went down, and then took 3 more heaping buckets from the bank between the houses by the old now filled pond.

When it was time to go, I was asked how much they owed me..
Well, I told them nothing.... after 3 or four times of being asked are you sure... I took a chance, and was pretty sure I would be right...
Well what would your brother in law charge you... "nothing" well then I'll do the same...

He would have happily done it even not feeling good... BUT he did not need to.. and it only cost me a little go-go juice!

Sometimes it is just the right thing to do to help a neighbor!!!!
