Tips on bending a metal canopy back? Just wack it with a mallet or is there a better way? Seems the previous owner ran inot a branch, so its got an upside down "v" shape in the middle of the front lip

Blacksmith here - whack it with a hammer if you want. But remember you need something behind it under it. We say the anvil moves the metal and the hammer provides the energy.
I'm the other hand, their probably are some good videos on sheet metal repair that might give you some ideas. Good luck.

Exactly right. There may be a more controllable way to move the metal like a piece of 2x4 under the V and a piece of 2x4 over the V and a C clamp to start moving these 2x4's together nice and gently. Sometimes moving things in a more controllable manner will yield better visual results.
