Curious, I bent a LA723 upper cylinder today. Any tips to replace one. Looks fairly straight forward. Lost a bit of hydraulic fluid, ready for the 50 hour change anyway. The lower pin holding didn't slip right out, is it possible that the entire two pin link will need to be removed? My Kubota dealer is closed until Tuesday, I guess I find out the cost of the cylinder then.. Does anyone know the typical cost? Would this cylinder be available at Northern or TSC? Two days off weren't in the plans.

I would look in your phone book for a hydraulic repair shop and ask them about the cost to rebuild one. It would likely be less expensive than replacing the whole unit. I have a shop near my office and have used them for several repairs and modifications, they've always been very resonsably priced.

did you bend the cylinder or the cylinder rod? if it is the rod it should be replaceable along with new seals, BTW A HOW DID YOU DO THAT?

I'm with Bob on this one. A hydraulic shop can replace the rod and save you a LOT of money.

Sorry about the cylinder /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. You can go to tractorsmart.com and download a free parts book for your LA723 loader then go to the website with the parts # and look up the price. You can also get one for your tractor for free. They have good prices on kubota parts. I just got a wet clutch and the parts to rebuild a cylinder at a good price. Took about 3 days to get the parts.

Kubota does list all of the cylinder internals as parts, so you should be able to get a replacement rod and seals from the dealer, without replacing the whole cylinder. Cylinder shop is a possibility, but Kubota does not use a standard cylinder, so a direct replacement rod may be a long shot at a non dealer repair house.

I was dragging the forks, the right one hit a stump. The cylinder was extended (obviously) at the time. TractorSmart is also now out of the parts business. They are directing calls elsewhere. WalMart bought the yard. If anyone has the LA723 PDF parts book - I have the one for my tractor - I would appreciate it.

Texas_Dan - Thanks for asking. The rest of the project is well under way. The barn - pole barn framed - is now enclosed, roof should be on this week. Here a couple of the latest pictures, beginning with the poles.
