I bent the left hand threaded end to my Kubota L 3540 top link. There is somthing stopping it from unscrewing all the way out. Has anyone taken their three point hitch top link apart?

I had to replace some of the damaged 3 point parts on my Kubota B5100, as well as my Ford 1600. The Kubota parts I got from Kubota, the Ford part I got at TSC. In the end, TSC was cheaper and I actually found their top link easier to use.

Never tried to unscrew it all the way... maybe there is a limiter to prevent it from accidentally separating while in use. The top links available at farm supply places are cheap and work just as well as the OEM one.

I recently bent the toplink on my L3830. I took it back to my dealer. He offered 3 options.

1. Replace with new Kubota toplink for over $200.
2. Replace with after market toplink for about $50.
3. Repair with used parts for labor cost of about $50.

I chose option 3 and watched while mechanic worked. He removed the grease fitting from the toplink housing. There is a free fit drift pin that he lined up with the grease fitting hole and removed. The shaft can then be unscrewed and removed. This is easier said than done because my toplink was packed with grease and the mechanic had difficulty seeing the pin and lining up with the grease fillting hole. After he did get it lined up, the grease did not want to let go of the free fit drift pin, which has to be removed through the grease fitting hole. Eventually, he was able to get the bent shaft out and install the new used shaft which works very well.

How badly bent? If not too bad you should be able to straighten it in place with heat, blocks of wood and a hammer.

I bent mine backing into a log in the woods probably 20 years ago. Found there is absolutely no loss of function with it bent.

After adding Pats Quick Hitch my top link was to short. Was coming by a JD dealer and stopped to pice one. I think they told me $95. This was years ago. I declined their offer and about a mile or two up the Hwy was a Tractor Supply. Got one there same size for $19 I believe. I was at TSC a couple of days ago and just glanced at a top link and it was $29. The one I bought years ago I still have.

I replaced mine with one from Tractor Supply for around $20 and like it better than the Kubota one. For that kind of money I would just get a new one. Can't believe Kubota was quoting $200 for a top link.
