This is what and how a single stage snow thrower should be made but with a shorter chute.

Please forgive my poor scribbling;

Item one shows the 48 inch snow blower width with the 13 inch diameter snow blower rotor and thick integral side wings.

Item two shows two of the four center paddles the pull and throws the snow up through the chute at 600+RPM

Item three shows the tall chute and spout having a taller chute helps to reduce the snow spray

Item four shows the cross auger with its narrow flighting and shallow depth of the augur flights

If the rotor speed is 650 revolutions per minute it has a speed of almost 11 revolutions per second.

The side view shows the access door for the chain drive and torsion arm; the chute and spout and the SSQA attachment method that was possible and could also be replaced with a three point hitch mounting system after removing the hydraulic motor and installing the three point hitch mount and the 540 RPM gearbox.

The single stage snow blower rotor has no center gearbox to worry about and the snow blower rotor is supported by 2 open flange roller bearings.

The chain drive consists of a drive sprocket and driven sprocket. The driven sprocket has an open flange roller bearing. The roller chain sprockets could be exchanged to allow the user to use smaller sprockets to speed up the snow blower rotor if desired.
The roller chain sprockets were held in place with compression locking rings using Socket Head Allen Bolts to hold the locking rings in place.
I have previously uploaded the Riest Series 1000 owners/service manual for everyone to look at.

Reminds me of Haban snow throwers that were sold with older (60s) craftsman lawn tractors. All reports said they worked fine even with low (8-12) total tractor HP. usually a bit narrower though (32-36"). Really too bad Reist is out of the snow blowing game.

Now I do have access to lots of older Haban style single stage blowers, and about 8hp of hydraulic flow to run them...
