1 yr manufacturers warranty against defects in material and workmanship and 3 yr on the gearbox. The anti scalp roller is not standard equipment on these machines, however, is available. Here are the specs. Ken Sweet

Most of my customers are only using that roller if they are mowing a old pasture field that has been turned into a yard. The cost of the roller kit Is $100. Ken Sweet

Gotta throw another vote for the KK RFM72. Mine also is older 4 years and around 500 hours besides a new cheapo belt and baldes each year later I've replaced 1 spindle due to a pulley issue. It was cheaper to buy the whole assembly from TSC ($38) than just get a pulley.
We are rough on stuff and my FIL is getting up there with alzheimers. This summer I got home from work and saw him mowing some thick 2+ foot stuff with it. Did not last long - He BROKE the shear pin. I checked the mower and he had also filled the gear box to the top - bless his heart (what we say in the south when we mean dumb sob) and broke the tension spring!
Drained the box to the proper level,installed a grade 2 bolt - it was already past time for a new belt and blades so I had those on hand. Its been around 50 mowing hours since then (I mow around 12 acres with it, I mow ALOT) and everthing is still ok
To me best is more than a single attribute - initiall cost,local availabilty, reasonable replacement parts. Here in east texas woods could not offer a better solution on these 3 points.
