You fellars need some training from Steven Seagal in the short gun area!

My wife's hero. Chop chop, bang bang.... Then go molest the babysitter... What a guy.

That Desert Eagle fit me like a glove! I have big hands; that large frame was perfect for me.

It is the one I had ported. Between the gas operation, overall weight and the porting, it was very smooth shooting. It also had trigger work, feed ramp work. I liked 2400 better; it seemed cleaner. But, the H110 seemed smother on recoil although it seemed to throw more flame.

I always used JHP, so I never had issues with the Magna-Port and lead. But, the gas port on the DE does not like lead either; at least by the book that is mentioned, so i never tried.

I liked shooting my buddies long barrel 629. He used the classic Keith 22gr 2400 with a 240gr bullet(JHP, as he used the same rounds in his Desert Eagle). It was a tack driver. But... He also loaded a 240gr Keith SWC lead slug in 44spl that was a nice plinker.

It was cool, because the 44mag load was right on at 100 yards, while the 44spl load was right on at 50 yards with no changes to the sights. Not sure what powder he used for the 44spl, but with tweaking on the load, he got it to work withou sight changes...

I never did get very good with mine and my son hasn't either. I was fairly good with the Black Hawk, 629 Classic and a Red Hawk; don't know why I couldn't get good with the Desert Eagle.

Since you mention .338...

Good to have a friend to cover your back!!!
....

I would have pooed in my pants if I saw that monster. Much less that close. :confused2:

Years ago, when I still listened to NPR, they had an interview with a bear biologist who worked in AK studying Grizzlies. He was dropped off in some remote area near a valley full of Grizzlies. He started out on a ridge near the opening of the valley that allowed him to see anything leaving or entering the valley. He saw lots of smaller Grizzlies leaving....

It was a clue.

Eventually he went into the valley. :D Me thinks there is some biblical verse that he should have been thinking about. ;) He saw lots of sign from a BIG bear. Eventually he setup camp. During the night the Big Bear made a visit. It would stay just out of the fire light. The biologist could hear the bear walking around VERY close. He knew it was big from the foot steps, breathing, and sounds the bear was making.

The bear was NOT happy that the biologist was in HIS valley.:D The biologist had to stay awake all night because of the bear. The reality was that the bear was likely so close in the dark that the bear could have attacked the biologist before the man could react.

The biologist left the valley the next day. :D

In no way do I repeat this story the way the biologist told it. Listening to the biologist tell the story, the hair was standing on my neck. The top of the food chain in that valley was not man but that bear.

I think the bear in the photo may have been related to the Bear Valley Bear. :D

Later,
Dan

My hands are about average size and work well with most guns, but just not quite big enough for the Desert Eagle. That big grip and weight sure did dampen the recoil though.

I used about every bullet weight/type there was in my Super Blackhawk and Smith. I started out with the old Speer Half Jacketed bullet for deer hunting and I think 22.5 gr 2400 as that was the most accurate.

Being a poor college student, I cast my practice slugs out of wheel weights and plumber solder for quite a few years. I tried the 180 grain JHP and 240 as well. I have now settled on the 240 JHP, but haven't shot one in a while; just talking about it has pretty much convinced me to drag them out and worj up some loads.
