If you have roots, stumps, etc., does it make sense to hire a dozer to just clean it up quickly, then use your tractor and only invest in implements you need for the future? Sorry, just reread your post and no large stumps, rocks or roots. Still, maybe rent larger tractor with tiller, disk or plows unless really need those for future. I recently bought a new tractor and went through the agony of which implements to purchase. I wanted to purchase one for everthing I could possibly ever want to do :) then realized better to save some of that money, spend some of it on a larger tractor, some of it for cab. ENJOY YOUR PROJECT!

Thanks for all the replies, sorry was "off" for the holidays :D

Why green manure anyway? Is that part of the organic plan?
Yep part of the organic plan plus it adds a lot of organic matter to the soil. This also helps in creating a better soil structure for proper moisture and nutrient retention/drainage/release. Also with organics you can't use most bagged fertilizers, they being "inorganic" :D

Also doing this for about a year helps "sterilize" the soil against things like nematodes and weeds.

What is a "green manure crop"? Some type of grass? If so, the ideal pH for blueberries and the grass crop will probably not be the same. Blueberries like ph 4.5-5.0, most grasses like above 5.5
Yep, it can be any type of grass or clover that you grow until it gets all big and green, then till/plow it in to add organic matter to the soil.

Yes, that is correct on the pH, barley is the preferred green manure crop for blue berries as it also likes the low pH. So I would be doing barley there and some other type of grass and clover on the other half.

Question on the suggestion to plow, will my little tractor be able to pull a plow or do I need to hire that job out?
