I would think that a bush hog would do the job and you don't need to worry about poison.:2cents:

I would kill it all with a round up product and replant the grass then follow up with a 2 4 d product, Would provide better outcome Now I am imagining a property mostly covered in weeds vs a few weeds in a mostly grass pasture your choice.

Are these products safe to use in wooded setting when trying to get rid of poison ivy, or will it kill the trees? We have a bunch of poison ivy on some paths I have cut through the woods and I would like to not have to worry about the kids walking the paths but aside from fencing some goats I was wondering my options.

I assume you are not talking about saplings. If I am correct, you should be good to go if you follow the label for foliar applications. Some of the herbicides discussed here can be used to kill trees, but this involves basal bark applications.

These herbicides enter the plant thru the leaves (or sometimes thru the bark, depending on the kid of herbicide and the kind of tree) not the roots, so just don't spray the foliage.

Borrow about 30 goats. They will clean it up in about 3 days. There won't be a leaf left. I am serious. Up North in Washington and Oregon, people rent them for just that purpose. No poison needed. 30 to 60 goats will clean off acreage

The guy comes out, sets up an electric net fence, turns the goats loose and in about 3 days they leave it clean as a whistle. They are silent and fast.

It's fall and we're at the tail end of a drought. Not the best time to be trying to start seed.

The exception is any herbicide containing Picloram i.e. Grazon P+D, Tordon, etc. it will go into the soil and kill shallow rooted trees since the chemical will enter the roots Don't spray weeds with Grazon P+D near you wife's favorite oak, hackberry, or elm tree.
