I have a 60" Deines that I loved because it cut great, had a front tip up deck, and virtually no issues. For example - I tightened the deck belt for the first time after 18 years of ownership cutting between 2.5 and 10 acres of lawn at least weekly. Other than that it was changing oil, blades, tires, and battery were the only things I did to it.

Three years ago I bought a 72" Deines that was 12 years old and it has been virtually the same once a fixed a dew things that were broken when I got it. Both are wonderful machines. Hard to say which one I like better as both, although there are differences, are excellent mowers.

I don't think ANYONE knows who has the best zero turn, but this IS the best zero turn for me,

The Grasshopper 725D is one he!! of a mower!!

The best mower - I agree Rob. The price of Deines makes it a better value in my opinion but overall the Grasshopper is excellent. Where it wins over the Deines is the lower center of gravity for hills and easier to get off and on. I would never give up a front deck for mowing around things without having to get into them.

That's a pretty good report. I just had to put the 2nd fuel line (ethanol) on my riding mower that is 15 years old this year.

Never heard a bad word on a Grasshopper. The front deck models seem to run forever.

With the bazillion different manufacturers and models out there why aren't there others with the front deck like Grasshopper? Those Grasshoppers have my attention. Still looking....maybe a Grasshopper 526V 52' or Hustler Raptor SDX 54" or...? I'm liking the front deck design of the Grasshopper for claimed stability and being able to see better and poke the front deck into areas. I'm in the country...no golf course, but a few rough areas, grades and obstacles...trees and whatnot. What are the cons? All I can think of might be a wider swing at the rear because of extra length. That spooks me a little because of problems with mowing using a tractor trailing a brushhog.

More expensive, wider swing and can't fit as many on a trailer are (IMO) the 3 biggest reasons you don't see more of them.

Kubota makes a front deck mower too. I went to the local Grasshopper dealer when I was looking and couldn't get any help. The place was empty, but the guy in there was too busy doing something on his computer. Eventually he did talk to me, but he didn't sell me on it. In hind site, I sometimes think I might have been happier with a front deck mower and should have looked at Kubuta. I did look at Kubota for the zero turn and it was between them and Skag as my final two. A few months after I bought my Skag, the Grasshopper dealership closed up.
