best deal ( cheapest price ) on 8/10/12\' hog?

I'm looking to do alot of light pasature cutting.. and want opinions on 8/10/12' rotary mowers.

Light duty is fine.. in fact.. this thing will never see more than high grass tops and some leggy broadleaf weeds.

( no finish mowers though.. just rotary.)

I'm in central florida, for all you other floridians.

I'm trying to find something I can afford.. most all the other stuff in this range is in the 5K$ area..

Got a heavy duty 3PH 10.5" Howse for $2200 a few years ago...

I just went and looked at the 10' howse 3pt cutter.. nice looking machine.. and is now about 2400$.. again.. not bad.

Assuming i get the ford 5000.. I'll also be getting that mower.

thanks for the info... I never knew howse had 'big' stuff.

I have the 10 ft Howse 3 point hitch rotary cutter which I use a JD 5220 (2 wd, 45 hp pto, 53 hp engine, FEL) to power it. This mower weighs about 1800 lbs. The front of the tractor does feel a little light some times when I am moving with the mower raised but when I am cutting it rides on the 2 wheels in the back of the mower and the 3 ph and cuts great. I too am cutting pastures and an old hay field (all total about 150 ac) but I do cut small trees which I would estimate about 2 - 2 1/2" without a problem. It works just fine for me!

I don't know how they compare structurally, but someone should be able to sell you an International Machinery 10' cutter at about the same price you got on the Howse.

I ended up not getting the ford 5000.. but it had a gear tranny..

Back in your other thread about 3pt. vs drag, Inspector507 attached a photo of one. They are built in Bethel, Ohio near Cincinnati.
