Years ago (in the 80s) I read an article. More people died of .22 rounds than any other and most died within 48 hours. If you want your assailant to languish a bit, and not get off so easy, maybe .22 isn't a bad choice. AND you save money!

Honestly I'm growing fonder and fonder of my PMR handgun (only problem right now is finding ammo for it). I bought it originally for the kids, but it does seem like it would make a good home defense handgun.

30 rounds of .22mag are nothing to sneeze at particularly at close quarters.

At the end of the day, if someone is pointing a gun at you, the last thing you're thinking IMO is what caliber the gun is and if it will hurt you.

The best gun for home defense is anyone you feel most comfortable with and proficient using IMO.
Any of the problems with the PMR 30 that people are reporting? Seems a few people are saying if you keep it cleaned and lightly oiled and stack the mags as directed, they have no issue.

If the world was a perfect place I wouldn't own a self-defense gun.

There ya go . . . I was thinking of the sport/hunting/practice end of it.

Still some learning on TBN 6.0 !
Now the post !
Had a medic tell me about two calls he responded to with GSW's
first was a .357 magnum point plank , patient survived.
second was a .22 fired from a block over, patient died.
he spent a lot of time instructing us on bullet path and damage from shock wave.

If I NEEDED a firearm for home protection I would sell everything and move to a better location. Worrying about which gun to carry is just another stress that shortens your life and enjoyment of it.

Don't worry. The crime will come to you eventually.

I had two FTF on the very first mag. I was worried at first.

For myself, it takes a little practice to load the mags, and I generally don't go past 27 rounds now. That first mag I loaded to 30, and it was a PITA IMO because I wasn't use to loading that small of a caliber in a mag to fill it up.

Only 200 rounds so far, but after that first mag, no issues.

At this point, I'm chalking it up to human error.

Thing is, the gun does have a good amount of muzzle flash IMO. Only have shot it during daylight hours. If I were to put it in a handgun "vault" for home defense, I would put a light on it and shoot it at night to see how it would be shooting in the dark. Might do that tonight now thinking about it, but I still need to ventilate my burn barrel IMO which I was thinking of doing today LOL

Hahaha

Kickok45 has a couple videos on YT about the PMR 30. Nothing bad to say about it.

I've got a 50rd magazine for a Ruger 10/22. The last few start getting tough on the old fingers.

I did notice on two of his videos he had repeated problems with accidentally ejecting the magazine while trying to activate the safety. He talks about it several times.

22WMR is hard to find now. And it's not cheap like 22LR, which is also hard to find now. Maybe they'll eventually come back again like the last panic.
