That's what I'm talking about! I've had people come to my door when I'm not home who know my dog, and say there's no way they'd try to get in.See this? She care's about three things... Attachments
1) Breakfast
2) Dinner
3) Any little noise outside of the house and she goes into rabid dog mode. You seriously would think a 300lb Rottwieler was in the house.
I had a Shepard mix, Mac, that was just the sweetest and well behaved dog you ever saw, kids loved to pet him when he got to go to the ballfields or parks. He would stay in the front yard with no fence. I had him 16 years. In my case and many others, the first thing that you and he will hear is the sound of a dog barking. Just another factor to consider.
My dog can be loud, but I do believe that his bark is worse than his bite. I hope that I never have to find out.
When my kids were small I had a 1/2 mixed Doberman & German Shepard . Named him Adolf and it fit. He could bark. One day a neighbor of mine appears at front door. Her name was Mrs Wolf. Her farm was almost a mile away. She holding paring knife and waving it in my face. "your dog comes into my farm and chases my sheep." I asked," did Adolf hurt any sheep?" She said "NO" I said "I'll take care of it." Didn't do anything, and neighbored never mentioned it again.I had a Shepard mix, Mac, that was just the sweetest and well behaved dog you ever saw, kids loved to pet him when he got to go to the ballfields or parks. I had a contractor scheduled to come over one afternoon and had Mac contained in the interior fence. The contractor told me later that he thought Mac was going to tear through that fence when he appeared in the back yard and he would have swore he was 200 lbs based on his bark!
You just never know how territorial a dog can be.
We have two 3yr old chocolate labs now, and when they hear or see someone they go into full alert mode.
I hear you and feel for you. They become a family member many don't understand, sadly. When my kids were small I had a 1/2 mixed Doberman & German Shepard . Named him Adolf and it fit. He could bark. Problem, he was very protective of me. I would take him in car sometime with Wife and kids. But, family would have to be in car first. If not, Adolf wouldn't allow anyone in car but me. I had him for couple years. one day I came down with a bleeding ulcer and other stuff. In hospital for two months, complications. Adolf was staying in garage as it was winter.
Crazy thing. Wife would give Adolf food. He would not eat. She tried different food. Things she thought Adolf would eat NOTHING was eaten. We had 2 Collies too. No problem with them, they ate . They were outside dogs. This happened 45 years ago. Either Adolf was sick or he was not eating because of heart break? We never will know for sure.
A not so happy Dog story. It saddens me yet today. YOU ALL STAY HEALTHY & BE SAFE........Coffeeman
I can not even find turkey shells. My daughter found a little 9mm this week at over twice what I was paying a year ago.Rainy day today so stopped by my local gun store to check what was new, had a good selection of guns, but the shelves were completely empty of ammo. The way things are heading ammo is going to be hard to find and really cost.
686P... my first and favorite as well. Heavy and feels so solid and reliable. Not necessarily my go to home defense but like others have said... the closest and easiest to shoot when not expecting to is key.I've always liked my .357 S&W revolvers and that was my first handgun...
I know... I have my eye on your LH 357.Two of my very favorite guns. Lew Horton specials from the S&W performance Center... 357 and 44... The 44 doubles as a club when empty. Attachments
I was reading an NRA feed from my email a few weeks ago talking about ammo supply in Florida. One person said "This place gets it on Monday and Thursday, that place gets their supply on Tuesday and Friday, so I wait inline each day and buy the maximum they will allow me."Rainy day today so stopped by my local gun store to check what was new, had a good selection of guns, but the shelves were completely empty of ammo.
