I agree. I'm thinking once it settled down, which it will, I need to get 5000 rnds of 22LR, preferable Federal Automatch, 5000 Small pistol primers, maybe 2500 small rifle primers, and 8 lbs of H4895. I dont need whole pallets. I also think 12 ga, 2-3/4" 7-1/2 shot is always a good thing to have, in bulk.I was reading an NRA feed from my email a few weeks ago talking about ammo supply in Florida. One person said "This place gets it on Monday and Thursday, that place gets their supply on Tuesday and Friday, so I wait inline each day and buy the maximum they will allow me."
Guys like him are the reason that nobody else can find any. Manufacturers are running full bore but can't produce it fast enough. I refuse to pay scalper's price on Gunbroker et.al. If I have to I'll go back to a bow, and save what ammo I have in case of emergency.
OTOH if supply ever does come back I'll be one of those buying it up. Last time I thought that 1000 rounds of .22 shells and 5 boxes for each handgun and long rifle was enough; it wasn't. I haven't fired a gun this year, and am going through withdrawal. I used to burn 20 rounds through my MarkII every night, and a dozen rounds through my .357 on the weekend.
