Been a TBN member for a few years now, but I rarely post - I enjoy the wisdom and wit shared here and wanted to tap into that knowledge if I could.
I've gotten the itch lately to look into participating in some of the local tractor pulling events in eastern NY (stone boat, county fairs, etc). As I've grown up around Ford tractors (Golden Jubilee, 860, 3000) and some of the newer blue iron, I'm always surprised at how "under represented" blue tractors are in any of the local pulling events in this region (Green and Red seem to dominate). Keeping in mind that any tractor I buy would primarily be tasked with regular property maintenance tasks (mostly bush hogging), what would be a solid, older ford to look for that could hold it's own on the pulling track? My guess was something in the 4600 to 6600 model series as I seem to remember them being a pretty stout tractor with a solid drive line. What do the rest of you think?
