Just my opinion and that of the Goodyear research facility in Texas, the Road Boss is the best simplest unit made.

I wouldn't think it'd be hard to establish some kind of hybrid box blade and land plane.
Perhaps a simple backing plate bolted on the rear of a land plane to hold more material?
I stare much at both of these things we have on the grounds of the tractor place I work at and even though
Ive suggested to both of them to marry, they have not taken the lead to make any kind of hybrid babies in the overnight hours
when neither man nor beast (well except for the coyotes now and again) dares to roam in the realms of the netherland.

I have all the parts made for my 7 foot LPGS, just no time to get everything together and get it completed. Should be able to move about 4 yards of material each pass with it once completed.

Looks like it does a good job, but you have the tiniest rocks I ever saw.

My homemade LPGS uses 4x7x1/2" angle iron to hold the blades. Due to that, there is quite a bit of flat area for dirt to build up on, and once it builds up, it can pile up enough that my JD2555 won't pick it up. Now granted, the LPGS is already pretty heavy by itself, but they JD isn't a toy either.
I originally considered a rear gate opened by a cylinder, and maybe a couple trailing wheels to really stretch this thing out, but in reality, it works fine for what I use it for, so I just leave well enough alone.
I have a 6' boxblade that won't carry as much dirt as the 7' lpgs. I don't remember the last time I used the boxblade due to that.
