One of the simplest things I have done to make my tractor useable is a simple suicide knob. It gives me a free hand while maintaining better control. Turning is otherwise awkward while raising and lowering the FEL in a quick manner.

^ This one gets my vote for best bang for the buck add-on.

I agree ^.

This one is red and a clamp on.

I would have to agree. When I got my new tractor, it wasn't long before I noticed that I needed to transfer the knob from my old tractor.

I had almost forgotten why it is called a suicide knob. Remembering all those years on a Fordson Dexta with no power steering brought back the recollection of how it could be suicide for an arm or a thumb or any other part of the hand or body that got in the way of that knob when the front wheel hit a ditch, or stump or rock or whatever was not supposed to be there. It was downright suicide to leave that thing on there.

But come to think of it one of those on my present tractors would be sweet.

Dad called 'em knucklebusters. We never had one on any of our tractors.

We had a renter/share-cropper that lived in Grampa's house across the road from us. He had a '51 John Deere A, narrow front with a knucklebuster on it. I found out why it's called that one day while raking hay...

OTOH, feller I occasionally work for has a Chevy 3500 Dually with one. It DOES come in handy when backing into tight spots with a trailer and the power steering pretty much eliminates kickback.

Power steering offers enuf assist that you can zip the wheel around with the heel of your hand. No knob for me.

Same for me. I always palmed the wheel because I used to always drive manuals so left palm on the wheel, right palm on the shift knob, nothing to crack your knuckles on.

I like the knob. I already posted the one on the TORO+Loader.

Here is the one on the 325D mower. On the side hill I hang onto the steering column with one hand, the other is on the knob.

I'm a knob guy. I work my tractors in the timber a lot. Very frequent turns from one lock to the other.

Grill Guard with a receiver hitch is very handy when backing 4 wheel wagons. Also serves as a weight rack.
