As mentioned earlier any of the front mounted grasshoppers with 4wd option is what I would be looking at, Last year I purchased a 23 year old Toro Groundsmaster 325-d with a 72" front deck. I don't know how many hours are on the unit since the hour meter was stuck on 142 hours. However, the little Mitsubishi diesel runs fine and uses very little fuel. It is almost impossible to turn the mower over. It will slide sideways before you get close to the tipping point. My only regret is that it is a 2WD unit. A grasshopper with a diesel is a big investment. I would be looking at a gasser.

No budget. If so then I would have a custom one made that didn't require an operator. Just think how much fun it would be to reply to a neighbor or front while sitting on a deck chair with a beer in your hand as it mows when he asks "What's you doing?"

It would have to be an autonomous lawn mower and one beefy enough to replace a bush hog.

I could modify a UGV to include a cutting deck. I would keep the 9 mm Uzi, Anti-Personnel/Obstacle Breaching System (APOBS) though ... you never know when it might come in handy.

If you want something in a GT comparable to your 445, then it's an X7xx machine. Pick the one you like best. For me it's the X739 (but only because they don't make the X749 any more). I cut some pretty steep spots, where I have to hang on just to stay on the tractor, with no problems at all. I"m a huge fan of four wheel steer. It really cuts down on my mowing time, especially trimming time. And 4WS is great for snow plowing too because you can plow sideways and steer with the rears when the front gets light. Some don't need it, or don't see its advantage, and prefer the X738 or X758. All excellent choices.

I mow about 6 1/2 acres that is very hilly, off-camber, steep and challenging. I started out with a 445, then an X495 for several years and even a 2305. The X495 was definitely the best mower of those three. However a couple of years back I decided to try a Zero Turn rider to try and reduce my mowing time and was skeptical it would hold the hills. As it turns out this was the best decision I ever made with regard to cutting grass. Now I did have to get rid of the stock rear turf tires, but it’s worked amazingly well. Not only is it WAY faster than anything I’ve ever mowed with, it has a low center of gravity which makes it feel comfortable on hills and the cut quality is excellent.

Carlisle makes a bar tire that has muted lugs that are more rounded off at the sidewall that are designed for zero turns. I highly recommend them. The tire is called an AT101.

Nice looking machine, and it looks like it's doing a great job for you.

I have a question, not just for you, but about zero-turns in general. I have worked on a few and have seen photos like yours, what I don't understand is why the front wheels don't pivot on a center point like a garden tractors front wheels.

I am assuming that the rear is heaver than the front, so when on uneven ground, one of the front wheels has to come off the ground. Is that a good thing?
