i have a sirius radio, just a basic one, but it needs a fm freqency, so im assumimg a portable clock radio type would work in the tractor/truck/car

would this work without static?just as good as a normal built in dash radio? and is there one with a charger on it instead of using batteries everyday and speakers that can be put anywhere

You likely are talking about a FM modulator for your sirrius. I use a FM modulator with my Ipod.

Any fm radio will work. The quality is Good so long as your on a frequency that isnt used by any local stations.

Your radio in the car / truck will be fine as is. If your tractor has a radio it will work too. Basically any FM radio will work with a modulator.

If you want a portable Boom Box for the tractor, i like the Dewalt portable radio. I have all dewalt tools so i have a bunch of 18V batteries for it. Makita Rigid and millwalkee also make similar radios. So if you have any cordless tools you can match brands and save money on batteries.

Theres also something i saw on TBN called a "tractor tunes" or something like that. Its self contained with speakers and mounts to the ROPS. I have no idea how good it is though.

aren't fm modulators and transmitters just adaptor type things, dont you still need a fm radio in car

i have a AM only radio and want to listen to my sirius, i have sirius radio but need a fm 88.1 to listen to it, so i want something easy and that works without static

Ahh now i see. I didnt realize you still were using a AM only radio.Yeah your going to need a FM radio to receive the signals from the sirius unit. . Unless your Am radio has auxiliary inputs (not likely). Some of the Jobsite radios i mentioned earlier have Aux imputs, so that saves on having to use the modulator. Not using the modulator gives a better quality signal.

Upgrading to a cheap AM/FM radio wont break the bank (try local junkyards or stereo stores for second hand units) and the install really isnt that hard.

Some of the sirius units are plug in compatible with a sirius brand "boom box" thats available separately. That might be an option too. But lugging a boombox from car to car really isnt convenient.

actually i think i have that aux imputs on both of my radios that i would use, im not 100% on that, but almost certain they both have a AUX in the front on them with a imput, if im right what does that mean, what should i do

remember AM only radio with aux imput and a sirius radio i already have, but need 88.1 fm

Spend about 90 bucks on a AM/FM/CD radio with an Aux input (boombox or a unit that you can install in your tractor), plug the Sirius receiver into that. Vercro or whatever your SAT antenna on top of your tractor (ROPS, CAB, etc.)

Id say upgrade the radio. It would be the best result overall. Look for one with a aux imput. Check pawn shops or stereo stores for used, you may get one cheap. The laser mechanisim on CD players especially the cheap ones, is crap. Alot of the time, stereo stores get these for nothing. As you dont need the cd player, these can be bought quite cheaply.

For many years we have used hearing protection type headphones that plug into a classic headset jack. Deadens the equipment noise and provides fairly high fidelity results. Don't use with Sirius, so I can't comment on that aspect. We use with MP3 player, making the whole thing very portable.

You can get a decent one for about 90 bucks.
