Well I showed up at Roorks at 7:45 AM and at 8:00 Am I met with dan ( I think he is the owners son) And after showing him some pictures of the hills and banks he felt the ZD25 would be the best choice. So in about 1.5 hours time they had it put together, and took me out back for a test drive and to go over it. Its 1 mowen machine, LOL. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I brought it home and took it for a test cut and boy this think cuts quick, It took some getting use to. 1 of the small fields that I cut with the craftsman use to take about 1 and 45 minutes. I cut it in 17 minutes.I will say I'm still a little concerned with cutting the hills. After cutting a little over an hour, I tried cutting a small bank that has a wicked drop of beside it and It could be from my lack of experence but It slid sidways down it ( About a 20 degree angle) and the 1 drive tire went over the edge. I had to get the 4320 JD to its rescue it.It handles really nice but the traction is a little less than I had hoped for.I'm still testing its bounderies. The Guys at Roorks are top notch and they beat everyones prices . I would drive the 340 mile round trip again if I ever needed another Kubota.

A note for you guys with the suspension seat. Mine was way to hard even at its lowest setting. So I removed 1 of the 2 springs and cranked the tensioner in almost all of the way , And now it acts like a JD floating seat. Its almost like riding on air. I weigh in at 180 so if your alot heavier . This may or may not work . But it really made a big difference in my ZD.

Any tips would be appriciated on how to mow steep hills that slope both down and away would be greatly appriciated. I'm not ready to roll this unit. LOL.

Once again thank you all for all of your help.

Jim,
Congrats on your new purchase! I think you made a good decision. On steep hills, always use your ROPS and seatbelt, just in case. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I always try and mow the very steep hills up and down, being VERY careful at the top to stay straight, when stopping and going to reverse. ZTR's are very easy to get away from you down hills, and very hard to correct until you are very comfortable with your machine.
Always try and stay away from edges of banks that have a steep drop. The reason I say that, is because I have had my ZD21 almost go off a 3 foot rock wall when I was on the hill next to it and my ZD decided to head for it. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Luckily for me the deck caught the edge of the wall and stopped me.
When the grass is wet, be especially cautious of steep hills. The tires will not have a lot of traction when its wet, at least mine doesn't.
Did you get to cut any tall grass with your ZD25 and if you did, did it have plenty of HP for the job?

Hi Curt ,
Thanks for the info. I have gotten it stuck a few times but have used the john deere to lift it out. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gifIt cuts tall grass very well but probably not at top speed but at a good pace it doesn't seem to bog. I will probably go back in a few weeks and buy a gr 2100 to do the steep parts of the lawn. My daughter loves it ( ZD25) Since the deere is in the shop its now Kubota rides thru the neighborhood /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.Thanks again for all of your help and input.

Well I finally was able to stall the ZD25 in some very tall grass that was still a little wet from a rain yesterday. But I should have used the bush hog for stuff this tuff, LOL.Its still a very nice machine and is so much quicker than any standard lawn mower I have ever used. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
