Here is another unique puller from Galen Koeckeritz. Don't know the cost though: Minnesota implement tree and post puller with helper legs - YouTube

It is made for a small tractor, he just demoed in on a skid steer.

That would be more interesting since it's pulling (pushing?) straight up from the ground instead of loading the tractor.

Seems like it would still make too big a hole though. I'd rather something to shear them off a few inches below the ground surface. Take the tree, but leave the root ball.

if you leave the root ball, you will have ankle breaking hidden holes when they rot away. If you pull the root ball out- the visible hole can be filled in to have level ground.
Thanks for the suggestions and ideas- keep them coming please.

Danuser Intimidator is one of the best tree pullers I have used. I shopped around got it for $2100. Kubota B26 pictured is great for smaller trees and bushes. The precision around buildings and fences works great. On bigger tractors it can take out large trees. Being able to excavate and cut roots is essential for bigger trees.

Always amazed on how well the Piranha toothbar, $300, pulls up trees and brush.

I guess it depends if you are trying to make a lawn or park or just cleaning up pasture. I'd use a shear like this (there are a lot more available) then paint the stump with 2,4D to kill the roots and let nature take it's course. That would be a step up from what I usually do with problem trees which is to cut them down and kill the stumps. Usually can cut them pretty close to the surface.

But, I'm interested in what you come up with. Don't forget to post the pictures.

The best sub $2000 tree puller I have used is a $300 weekend rental for a mini excavator with thumb! When you have over 5,000lbs of lift, most trees under 6'' come out on the first pull. Larger trees took about 2-3 digging passes to break the taproot, and then came right out.

I own 2- a 9000 lb and a 14000 lb both with hydraulic thumbs but they are on the job every day- need this for home and my tractor

If you already have a 14,000 pound excavator I don’t think you’d ever be happy with a tractor mounted tree puller.

every tool has it's place- I can't take my excavator to the places I want to clear without destroying everything in it's path- sort of like using an 8 pound sledge hammer to drive a nail. It will be an adjustment for sure.

I have the Jenkins tree puller with brush guard. Am very pleased with it and would buy again. Paid $2800 all together last year at this time. Took three days from order to receiving it. No shipping charge.

Tree puller on a frontend loader sounds like a good way to "worp" your loader frame or lift arms. An 8" gum tree in my neighborhood is deep rooted and a very hard pull. LOL.

5 year old thread, but still interesting.
Prices have gone up considerably since January 2019.
