Don’t have time to read all the posts, but just make sure you check your gear ratio in any heavy duty gasser. Old junkers with 4.10s or even higher (numerically) can really be work horses.
Best tow vehicle for 3 grand? Van, Suburban, or truck.

No such luck here. They’re pretty rare here and priced pretty comparable to other trucks.

they have some for sale there. Craigslist has them so does ebay. increase your search distance, I found one in Pensacola, Jacksonville and Orlando just last week.
you may need to drive an hour or two to find one but there out there.
Maybe one of these is close to Crossville TN.

I’m not actively looking for one. But if I found a 454, manual transmission, 4x4, 100,000 miles, flat bed it for 2 grand it would probably be mine.

My 2001 E350 12 pass van has served me well. Ive had 8K behind it and pulls well. I do use a load distributing hitch on my equipment trailer. A used church bus is my first choice, the service vans have been road hard and put up wet.
