Ye are forgiven, Brother Jay!

Now go forth and sin no more!

Thank you for your forgiveness, Brother John B. Good thing no penance was required, or I might have been required to build a 24 ft. gooseneck......

I think you will do just fine and you can't beat a well built aluminum trailer for payload to weight and it will never rust!

I checked the link and am having trouble finding the 2 axle 7 x 12 landscape specs... what is model number of yours?

Don't forget to post a couple of pictures of the trailer with tractor.

Actually, they don't make a 7x12, it was custom done for my trailer dealer. They make a 7x14 tandem. I was waiting a long time without any word from the dealer. I called him, he checked with the factory, and was told they weren't going to make a 7x12 tandem axle trailer. (forgot to call and tell the dealer....) He pressed them hard, and they grudgingly made a 7x12, but insisted on electric brakes. My dealer said no problem, and removed the electric brakes and installed surge brakes at his shop, along with tie downs, and 2 channels in the rear to drop a 2x10 into for loose material. He didn't charge me any extra for changing the brakes. All in all, an excellent dealer.

If there was no way Continental Cargo would make the 7x12 tandem, I'd either have taken the 7x14, and upset some family members who feel even the 7x12 is uncomfortably big for there novice use (told you life is a compromise....:)) or bought a 7x12 steel H&H tandem trailer. All aluminum sold me on this.

Get the heaviest rating longest bed trailer with dual axles and brakes you can legally pull. Don't worry about it being overrated as you will soon manage to reach that point.:D

Yep, think about carrying attachments with the tractor.

Workin . . . I was looking at your photos and noticed that you do not have the backhoe or the loader bucket secured for trailering. If I read the D.O.T. towing regulations correctly for commerical carry (which I believe would apply to you), I believe you need to have the loader and the backhoe individually chained down, in addition to the tractor being changed down. It sounds like overkill, but you might want to look into it before you face an unnecessary fine.

i dont know about the regulations, ive had many a trooper behind me but non has ever pulled me over. when they delivered my b3030 yesterday he had a chain through the front loader and one through the subframe mount on the backhoe. i have had the 3030 on the trialer allready and went with the chains the same way as he did. The rental store my buddy picked up a b21 chained it down to the trailer the same way. i did add a clevis to the draw bar to run the chain through and never transport without the pins in. guess i need to do some diggin for DOT info.

Troopers rarely know the trailering laws until there is a DOT crackdown. We seem to have a regulations check about 1 month a year every year. Then when they do crack down the whole concept of "ignorance of the law is no excuse" will get you a ticket every time! What I see is that people "get away" with stuff that is dangerous, or illegal, or both. The question is do you want to be safe and legal, or do you want to get away with something until you get caught?

I prefer safe & legal; I'm just offering up a friendly bit of advice to check the laws that apply to you.

Bob is right. The attachments need to be secured as well as the tractor. Just because the trooper may not know this and give you a ticket doesn't mean the DOT won't. Usually the DOT in my area works in the rest stops along the highway but I have seen trucks and trailers pulled over on back country roads if they saw a load wasn't secured properly.
