Best way to flatten a new lawn after tilling?

I did not take the time to read all of the replies, but what I found after building my house is that tilling too deep will cause the dirt to be too "fluffed". I tilled deep and then ran a "drag harrow" over it. I found that even walking on the ground after dragging it, was tool soft. I could not run the tractor over it with the seeder without leaving ruts. So after some trial and error, I found that setting the tiller skidshoes for 1-2" then dragging gave better results for solid ground. 3 years later, a nice smooth lawn!

Here's a shot of a chain link harrow I knocked together to help level a 3 acre section of meadow, a small section of which you can see in the background. It took a bit of a beating but did the job ok. I hit the meadow first with the box blade, roughly leveling it and using the teeth when needed to break up hardpan. I then tilled twice (up and down then across), harrowed, sowed then harrowed again to cover the seed. All it needs now is for the seed to sprout.

The idea for this thing came from Egon. The log I had lying around and I got all the hardware at my local builders merchant.

Attached also is the finished result. I won't be able to play tennis on it but it's fit for purpose which is a bit of rolling lawn leading from the ocean up to the house.
