put you some tilapia in there,they will eat the algae up.we put a couple hundred pounds in our 10 acre pond every year and we have zero algae.the tilapia die off every year when the water gets cold and if you watch close you can pick them up with a dip net while they are still alive
We have about a dozen grass carp in out 1 acre pond. Two have been there for 3 years, the rest only one year. Will they keep the pond clean? Short answer is no. Maybe if I had 10x as many they might help, but their effect is hardly noticeable.
On the other hand, they do no harm either. Our two older ones are now about 3' long. I'm not sure just how big they get, but they're fun to watch cruising the pond.
Grass carp will have no effect on algae. They dig, dislocate and eat certain types of aquatic vegetation. Check on more specific information @ noble.com.
