Best wood chipper for the price

Wallenstein BX 42 is one of the best things I own. Runs fine on 28 hp JD 950. Feeds fine w/o hydraulic feed. Heavy fly-wheel. Easy to sharpen blades. Just a great machine. I think it was $2,650 delivered.

When you think about costs to own versus rent (something I thought a lot about) remember you can run your Wallenstein for 5 years then sell it for pretty close to what you bought it for.

You can't go wrong with a Salsco.

Built like a tank and works fantastic.

I used a borrowed Jinma chipper for over 60 hours and was totally satisfied. I liked it so much I just purchased a few factory-direct and they will arrive in New England around mid-July. See http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/chinese-tractors/207390-placing-order-jinma-factory.html.

It seems to be a love/hate relationship with this chipper but after using one to clean up after a major ice storm, I was happy. It easily devoured a 6" diameter hardwood tree with auto feed. I had to make sure all the fasteners were tight and the blade/anvil clearance was correct. Since the chipper was "used" and on loan to me, I can't complain; however, I was happy enough to buy one for myself and others to resell.

Since I've visited the Jimna factory and seen what they can do, there are no concerns on my part. If I was a professional landscaper, I'd spend more $ for higher end equipment but for a homeowner with property maintenance, it's good value.
