Best wood splitter for the money

I dont own one but have to agree with you on that. That is cheap tho. You could not possibly build or buy one for anywhere near that. Great deal imo

Wood splitters are like trailers, you can buy them for less than what you could build one. The price on the HF splitter is so low it is scary. I'll put mine up against any standalone splitter that is under $2,000. I'm super impressed with the predator engine.

i think i have the best splitter for the money.... Built in the 60's. Just got repowered by a powerhorse for $120. Btw i did a lot of research on this and the bolt pattern is exact to an old 5hp briggs that was on there.:) spent $100 for it about 8years ago and just put the first $120 into it.

The Powerhorse engine is a good one. My splitter has an 8 HP Powerhorse engine and it starts on the first pull everytime, even if it has been sitting for months.

That looks like a good splitter. I know some of the small Honda's share the same bolt pattern as a Briggs. An engine like your Powerhorse is a Honda clone.

It is not about the Kinetic splitters being faster. It will only go as fast as it can be fed. One is not going to move with the same energy at the end of the day so how fast it goes becomes meaningless if the user can't match it. The company I worked for split 5 cords per day when we were in firewood mode. We did it with a 7 second horizontal splitter with a 4way wedge and a conveyor belt right under the splitter. This dumped into a stake body that held 2.5 cords. We filled this truck once before lunch and again after lunch. We had a guy to buck the stems, a guy to bring the rounds and a guy to feed the splitter. We would rotate every couple hrs. By 3 pm, everyone was beat up. Then we did it again the next day.

yes, it is a honda clone. For the price point i am really liking this engine. 1 pull and a lot of torque, smooth running.

I ended up salvaging my dad's log splitter from the early eighties. I made some necessary mods as to height, the back plate, and log stripper. Then, for the heirloom value and my current needs, I recently re-powered it then added a log lift and a wing-splitter for the larger rounds.
